about

This song is about holding on through changes and finding a new way that may not look like the past. This one came to me in fits and spurts. The chorus jumped into my head almost fully-formed, but the verses and melody took a while to coalesce.

lyrics

V1
How'd we get so far apart
When we started we shared a heart
But things were spoken or left unsaid
Now I can't see the path ahead

I'm not giving up
On you or us

CH
Tryin' to be Brave for us
Tryin' to find a way for us
But I don't know if we'll ever be the same as we used to be
If we keep holding tight
We'll make it warm through the night
And maybe in the morning there will be a path that we can see

V2
Time has weakened the bonds we made
But we're still strong enough to save
And I still love you and you love me too
We can find a safe way through

I'm not giving up
When the road gets rough

CH
Tryin' to be Brave for us
Tryin' to find a way for us
But I don't know if we'll ever be the same as we used to be
If we keep holding tight
We'll make it warm through the night
And maybe in the morning there will be a path that we can see

BR
Just take it slow
Together now here we go

V3
No we're walkin' hand in hand
Together always as we'd planned

We're not giving up
'Cause our love's enough

CH
We're tryin' to be Brave for us
We're tryin' to find a way for us
But we don't know if we'll ever be the same as we used to be
If we keep holding tight
We'll make it warm through the night
And maybe in the morning there will be a path that we can see
Yes maybe in the morning there will be a path that we can see
And maybe in the morning there will be a path that we can see
